At Parker Optometry, we offer direct billing for a large number of insurance providers, and that list is constantly evolving depending on which providers are willing to accept online submissions or direct billing. If you’re not sure whether or not your insurance provider will, we recommend contacting them to be sure before your appointment.
We’re happy to try to bill your insurance plan at the time of your eye exam or when you’re ordering glasses and contact lenses, but please be aware that if your insurance can’t be run or the full amount is not covered, you will have to pay the difference.
Cancellation Fees
Please be aware, that we recently had to implement a cancellation fee for appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice. This includes cancellations due to a lack of insurance coverage, so please be sure to contact your insurance provider with plenty of time to spare if you need to check. We don’t want you to be caught off-guard.
BC Medical Services Plan
The BC Medical Services Plan (BC MSP) provides basic medical insurance to all BC residents. It also applies to eye exams and vision care in cases where
- the eye exam has been deemed medically necessary,
- the exam is for a child under 18, or
- the exam is for a senior over 65.
You may still have to pay a small copay fee, which is still eligible for coverage from a separate insurance provider, but the BC MSP will definitely reduce the price of an eye exam if it applies to you. Feel free to ask us about what your eye exam might cost you or see our current fees.
Direct Billing Insurance Providers
We’ve listed the insurance providers we’ve recently billed directly below. This list does change occasionally as providers update their policies, so feel free to reach out to us for the most recent list.
